South African Airways and Kenya Airways strengthen their alliance
In a major development for African air travel, Kenya Airways and South African Airways have just announced a significant expansion of their codeshare agreement. This strategic initiative aims to inaugurate direct flights to key destinations in South America, directly from South Africa. A decision which marks a turning point in the air cooperation relations between the two companies, thus strengthening their position on the global aviation scene.
From January 2024, Kenya Airways passengers will be able to fly to Sao Paulo in Brazil, one of the most dynamic metropolises in South America, from Johannesburg. This new route will be operated under the KQ code, thus simplifying the reservation process for travelers accustomed to the Kenyan company.
Julius Thairu, Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer, highlights the importance of this expanded collaboration, which now opens up the opportunity for passengers to travel to previously less accessible destinations. According to him, this expanded strategic cooperation between the two leading African carriers will promote better connectivity between the African and South American continent.
