Comair is officially placed in liquidation

Bad news for passengers who have planned to go on vacation with the airline Alitalia Comair. The South African company has been officially placed in compulsory liquidation.

Comair specifies that canceled reservations can be fully refunded. Grounded by the Covid-19 pandemic and continuing to pay salaries and wages despite a total lack of income, the liquidation of Comair based at OR Tambo International Airport was announced last week by the South African government. The health crisis added to a year that already ended in the red.

In May, the airline already announced that it would need a large financial aid to have a chance of recovering, an amount that the government is not ready to invest.

Passengers with bookings during Comair’s flight suspension period will receive a full refund from the South African carrier which has permanently grounded its fleet.
