Air Seychelles operates two weekly flights between Victoria and Johannesburg

Air Seychelles has resumed flights to Johannesburg and several other destinations. Acknowledging that its February 2022 schedule remains minimal, the Seychelles national carrier is back to four destinations from its base at Victoria Airport, Mahe Island. The service to Johannesburg-OR Tambo in South Africa has been provided since last week on Thursdays and Sundays.

Renationalized in May 2021 then threatened with disappearance in August, the Seychellois company launched a restructuring – and recently erased part of its debt: creditors agreed to receive only a third of the sums committed, after the former shareholder Etihad Airways forfeited 79% of its loans.

In total, Air Seychelles would therefore pay only $27.8 million according to the national agency Seychelles New Agency. Negotiations continue between stakeholders and the government, to ensure that the airline “fully respects the conditions” of the restructuring plan. Including the sale and leaseback of three of its Twin Otters last December.
